Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Study
A Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) test serves as a diagnostic tool for evaluating nerve health. It measures how fast an electrical impulse moves through your nerve. NCV can identify nerve damage, which often occurs in conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Neuropathy, and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Your NCV is performed and interpreted under the supervision of Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Consultant Neurologist (MBBS, MD, DM Neurology), with 16+ years of experience — so you get a specialist's reading, not just a printout.
A nerve conduction study helps locate and grade problems in the peripheral nerves. It is commonly used to assess:
Every study at NeuroMet is correlated with your symptoms and examination by a consultant neurologist, so the result is a diagnosis and not just a graph. Read patient education articles.

Meet the full team →In many cases an NCV study and an EMG test are performed in the same sitting. The NCV studies how the nerve carries its signal, while the EMG studies the muscle and its nerve supply. Together they show whether the problem lies in the nerve, the muscle, or the junction between them, which gives your neurologist a complete picture in one visit.
You will feel brief, mild electric pulses during the study. Most people describe it as a quick tingling or tapping rather than pain. It is well tolerated and needs no anaesthesia.
A focused study usually takes about 20 to 40 minutes, depending on how many nerves need to be examined.
A referral is helpful but not mandatory. Our consultant neurologist can assess your symptoms and decide which nerves to study.
The cost depends on how many nerves and limbs need to be studied, which is decided by your symptoms. Please call or WhatsApp our team for an exact quote before booking.
In most cases the report is provided the same day, along with a neurologist's clinical interpretation.
NCV is safe for people with diabetes and is often used to assess diabetic neuropathy. If you have a cardiac pacemaker or any implanted device, tell us in advance so we can take standard precautions.
All neurophysiology tests at NeuroMet Wellness are supervised or reviewed by our Senior Consultant Neurologist to ensure clinical correlation with your symptoms. We don't just give you a graph; we give you a diagnosis.
