Neurodiagnostics at Home in Gurgaon & Delhi NCR

NCV, EMG, EEG and overnight EEG performed at the bedside — for patients who cannot easily travel.

When Getting to the Clinic Is the Hardest Part

Families tell us the same thing often enough that it stopped surprising us: the test itself was never the problem. Getting a parent down two flights of stairs was. Arranging an ambulance for a thirty-minute study was. Moving someone with a fresh hip fracture, or a ventilator, or advanced dementia who becomes distressed the moment they leave a familiar room — that was the problem.

So we bring the equipment to you. NCV, EMG, EEG and overnight EEG can all be performed in a patient's own bed, in Gurgaon and across nearby Delhi NCR. The study is the same study. It is performed by our trained technologist and read by Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Senior Consultant Neurologist — Gold Medalist MD (Medicine), DM Neurology, with Harvard Medical School fellowships and over 16 years in clinical neurology. The same consultant who reports the studies done at our Sector 57 centre.

There is no separate "home version" of these tests. Same equipment, same protocol, same neurologist reading the trace.

Who This Is For

A home study makes sense when travel is genuinely difficult or unsafe, rather than merely inconvenient. In practice, that usually means:

Bedridden patients

Where a transfer needs two people, or equipment you do not have at home.

After a stroke

Especially in the early weeks, while a patient is being nursed at home and weakness needs characterising.

Progressive conditions

Advanced Parkinson's, motor neurone disease — where a car journey costs a whole day of energy.

Ventilated patients

Patients on home ventilation or with a tracheostomy, cared for by family and attendants.

Dementia & delirium

Where an unfamiliar clinic reliably makes the patient agitated and the recording unusable.

Post-operative

After surgery or a fracture, when the instruction is not to mobilise.

Children

Who settle far better in familiar surroundings, particularly for sleep EEG.

Palliative care

Where the aim is to answer one question without disrupting the patient's day.

What We Can Bring to You

All four studies use portable equipment. Which ones you need is decided by the clinical question, not by what is convenient to carry.

Nerve conduction study (NCV)

For numbness, tingling, burning feet, suspected neuropathy or a trapped nerve. Small surface electrodes and brief electrical pulses — no needles.

Needle EMG

For weakness and wasting, usually done alongside NCV. A fine needle electrode samples the muscle directly.

EEG

For seizures, blackouts, unexplained confusion or altered consciousness. Electrodes are applied to the scalp; nothing is injected and nothing hurts.

Overnight & sleep-deprived EEG

A longer recording that captures sleep, when many abnormalities are far easier to see.

What Actually Happens on the Day

1

We agree a time window on the phone and confirm the address and any access details — lift, stairs, parking, guard desk.

2

Our technologist arrives with the equipment in two portable cases. Setup takes about ten to fifteen minutes.

3

We need a power socket within reach of the bed and enough room to stand on one side of the patient. That is genuinely all.

4

An NCV study takes roughly 20 to 40 minutes. NCV with EMG takes longer. A routine EEG takes about 30 to 45 minutes including setup.

5

The patient stays in bed throughout. There is no need to move to a chair or a table.

6

Afterwards we clean off the electrode paste and leave the room as we found it.

7

The recording goes to Dr. Kumar for reporting. Most reports are issued the same day, sent on WhatsApp and available in the patient portal.

A family member or attendant should be present, both for the patient's comfort and because we will ask about symptoms, medication and what changed recently. That history shapes which nerves and muscles we study.

Overnight EEG at Home

This is the study where being at home helps most. A routine daytime EEG records perhaps thirty minutes of wakefulness, and plenty of epileptiform activity simply does not appear in that window. Sleep is when it shows itself — and most people do not sleep properly in a hospital room with a stranger watching.

At home, in their own bed, patients sleep. We fit the electrodes in the evening, the recording runs through the night, and we return in the morning to remove everything. For a patient with blackouts of uncertain cause, or seizures that only ever happen at night, this often answers the question a short daytime study could not.

Affordable, and Quoted Before We Arrive

A home visit is priced at our usual clinic rate plus a travel charge, and we tell you the full figure on the phone before anything is booked. There is no separate premium for being seen at home, and no charge that appears afterwards.

What you are not paying for

  • No hospital admission or day-care bed
  • No ambulance or transfer charge
  • No registration or consultation add-on to access the test
  • No repeat visit because the patient could not be positioned or settled

What it actually costs a family

For a patient who cannot walk, the test fee is rarely the whole expense. There is transport both ways, often an attendant's day off work, sometimes a second person to help with the transfer, and a long wait with a frail patient at the other end. Counted honestly, a study done at home frequently works out at less than the total cost of getting there and back — and the patient keeps their day.

Call or WhatsApp with the patient's symptoms and location and we will quote the exact figure, including the visit charge. If a study is not clinically necessary, we will say so rather than sell it.

Where We Travel

Gurgaon is our home ground. We also travel across nearby Delhi NCR:

Sushant Lok DLF Phases 1–5 Sectors 40–57 Golf Course Road Sohna Road New Gurgaon Manesar South Delhi South-West Delhi Dwarka Noida Faridabad

If you are further out, call and ask. The answer depends on the day and the study, and we would rather tell you honestly than take a booking we cannot keep.

Every home study is reported by Dr. Kumar personally — the same consultant who reads the studies performed at our Sector 57 centre. A home visit does not mean a junior reading or an outsourced report. His practice is built on ordering only what the clinical question requires: if a study will not change the answer, he will tell you so rather than perform it.

For Referring Clinicians

Studies are acquired on portable systems by a trained neurophysiology technologist and reported by a DM Neurology consultant. A few points that usually matter to the referrer:

Limb temperature

Cool limbs slow conduction and prolong latencies. We warm the limb before acquisition; where temperature could not be assured, the report says so.

Technical limits stated

Ambient electrical noise, restricted positioning and limited cooperation are recorded on the report when they affect the study.

Paediatric norms

Age-appropriate reference values are applied for children rather than adult limits.

Measurements included

Reports carry the actual values alongside the interpretation, so you can form your own view.

Turnaround

Same day for most studies. Overnight EEG is reported the following working day.

Urgent findings

If a study raises something urgent, we call you. We do not leave it sitting in a report.

Home Neurodiagnostics: Frequently Asked Questions

Is a home NCV, EMG or EEG as accurate as one done in the clinic?

The equipment and the protocol are the same, and the same neurologist reports it. The honest caveat is environmental: a home has more electrical interference than a shielded clinic room, and limb temperature is harder to control. We manage both, and where a factor has affected the recording we state it on the report rather than quietly ignoring it.

Which areas do you cover for home visits?

All of Gurgaon, and nearby parts of Delhi NCR including South and South-West Delhi, Dwarka, Noida and Faridabad. For locations further out, please call — it depends on the day and which study is needed.

What does a home visit cost?

It depends on which study is needed, how many nerves or muscles are examined, and the distance travelled. Please call or WhatsApp us for an exact quote before booking. We will tell you the full cost up front, including the visit charge.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

A referral helps, because it tells us the clinical question. It is not mandatory — our consultant neurologist can decide which study is appropriate from the patient's symptoms when you call.

What do we need to arrange at home?

A power socket near the bed, space to stand on one side of the patient, and a family member or attendant present. For an EEG, clean dry hair without oil helps the electrodes make good contact. Nothing else.

How soon will we get the report?

Same day for most studies, sent on WhatsApp and available in the patient portal. Overnight EEG is reported the next working day because there are many hours of recording to review. If anything urgent turns up, we telephone you the same day.
